Launch of Play Me, I'm Yours

piano

Join us this Thursday, April 12th at noon for the “lunch launch” of Play Me, I’m Yours. The Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra, in collaboration with UK artist Luke Jerram, is presenting a public art installation placing 30 pianos in accessible spaces across LA County over the course of three weeks. Play Me, I’m Yours will also celebrate the 15th anniversary of LACO’s music director and world-renowned pianist, Jeffrey Kahane.

Each of the 30 pianos is decorated by local artists or community organizations, including one specially decorated by our talented Ryman Arts students as part of our Community Arts Club! Representing our diverse student body, and the true diversity of Los Angeles, our piano will be placed at the Wells Fargo Center on Bunker Hill in Downtown Los Angeles. To open the installation, pianists at each site will be performing the Complete Preludes from Bach’s The Well-Tempered Clavier, Book 1 tomorrow at noon. Our piano will be played by Austrian-Taiwanese pianist Rueibin Chen.

We hope you will join us this Thursday at noon to kick off the first project of our Community Arts Club at the Wells Fargo Center on Bunker Hill. For more information on the city-wide project, or to view a map of the pianos throughout Los Angeles County, please visit http://streetpianos.com/la2012/.
